The capital of Georgia that has been considered as the great metropolis of the Caucasus. It is a city of ancient history, founded in the 5th century, a fascinating mix of European and Asian cultures, and a multi-ethnic, multi-cultural and multi-religious city.

Language
Official language in Georgia is Georgian (Kartuli), whose spoken form has many dialects, usually divided into East Georgian and West Georgian groups. Georgian scripts were granted the national status of cultural heritage of Georgia in 2015 and inscribed on the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2016. There are just 14 independent scripts in the worls and Georgian is one of them.

 Currency

Georgian National currency is the Georgian Lari (GEL). GEL 1 is equivalent to 100 tetri, and notes come in denominations of GEL 200, 100, 50, 20, 10, 5, 2 and 1. ATMs are common as is the use of credit cards.

Georgian cuisine will tell you a lot about the spirit and culture of a country. It may surprise you to know that Georgia has the oldest continuous unbroken tradition of winemaking in the world.
